Mathmatic Prediction

by Cerlyn
(Chennai, Tamilnadu, India)

THE EFFECT: The magician writes down a prediction on a piece of paper, folds it up and then gives it to a member of the audience to hold securely without looking at it.

The magician asks another member of the audience to write a few years on another piece of paper and add them up. The total is the same as the magician's prediction!

THE SECRET: The prediction you write is always twice the present year! After writing your prediction you tell a member of the audience to write down their age, then their date of birth.

You then tell them to write down a year when something interesting happened, finally the year gap between the interesting year and the present year.

That's it, when you get them to add up all the numbers it will be the same as you predicted.

Here is an example:

Your prediction: 2008 + 2008 = 4016

Spectators numbers:

Age: 23
Date of birth: 1985
Interesting year: 2005
Gap: 3
-------------
Total: 4016
-------------

TIP: The prediction changes according to the current year!
